The Hello Cup - Pink (Large)
You may have heard the term ‘menstrual cup’.
That’s what the Hello Cup is. One of those. Essentially you put it up your vjayjay instead of a tampon. The best bit is, they’re even better than tampons – well, we think so, anyway.
Not only will your Hello Cup last for years and save you heaps of moolah, it’s also good for the environment, holds more than tampons and is unbelievably comfortable (as in you can’t even feel it).
Why the Hello Cup?
The Hello Cup is proudly made and designed in New Zealand using top notch medical grade TPE (a type of plastic) that we import from Germany.
We feel strongly that when it comes to your vjayjay, you only want to put trustworthy stuff up there (sound advice from our grandmothers).
Yes, there are other cups out there, but not all cups are created equal. The Hello Cup is in a league of its own.
Why the Hello Cup is your new bestie
The Hello Cup is proudly made and designed in New Zealand using top notch German medical grade thermoplastic elastomer, a type of plastic commonly referred to as TPE.
We chose TPE for Hello Cups because it is fully recyclable at the end of its life, it is comfortable and soft to the touch and it is hypoallergenic – making it perfect for women who have silicone sensitivities.
Hello Cups contain no rubber, latex, PBAs, heavy metals or other nasties. Colours used are certified food grade and comply with EU and FDA standards.
If you look after your Hello Cup it will last you 5 years. Pretty amazing, eh?
We feel strongly that, when it comes to your vjayjay, you only want to put trustworthy stuff up there (sound advice from our grandmothers). Not all cups are equal. The Hello Cup is in a league of its own and is FDA registered.
We get it, you’ve been using tampons for years without problems so why should you change?
- they don’t hold as much as a Hello Cup
- they are expensive
- they’re bad for the environment
- most are chemically treated
- they need to be changed regularly
- tampon strings stink if you wee on them – meaning you really need to change them each time you go to the loo
- pads lose their stick meaning your flash undies • won’t stay flash for long
We think you should say ‘hello’ to a Hello Cup because:
- they’re reusable
- they don’t smell
- one cup will last you several years
- they can hold three times more than tampons • they are ideal for women of all ages
- they’re ideal for athletes
- they are proudly made in New Zealand
- they’re comfortable
- they are easy to use
- you never get ‘caught short’
- they don’t dry out your fanny like tampons do
Let’s Get Started (the how to guide)
Yes, the first time you see them you could be forgiven for thinking “yikes, that looks big, how on earth do I get that up my vjayjay?” But as we all know, looks can be deceiving. The Hello Cup is made from soft, medical grade plastic, to use it you simply fold it and pop it in.
The folding technique we recommend is the punch down fold.
THE PUNCH DOWN METHOD (above)
Once inserted, your Hello Cup will pop open and form a seal. If in correctly you shouldn’t get any leakage. Like most things in life, you might need to practice a bit until you’ve got the hang of it.
You can leave it in for hours depending on your flow. As a guide, on heavier days you might want to remove it every three or four hours. On light days you can leave it for up to 12 hours.
To remove your Hello Cup, feel for the base of the cup. Give it a gentle squeeze – this helps to break the seal – and pull down slowly. The special rim of the Hello Cup helps to stop any splashes as you’re removing it. Once it’s out, simply tip the contents down the loo, rinse (or wipe if there’s no tap handy) & reinsert. Easy!
Once your period is over, we recommend you sterilise your Hello Cup either by using sterilisation tablets or giving it a quick boil on the stove (don’t let the bottom touch the bottom of the pan though).
